UNIT 9 ECOSYSTEM
UNIT 9 ECOSYSTEM
9.1
ECOSYSTEM
Ecosystem are all the
organisms living together in an area and their interaction with one another as
well as their environment.
An
organism habitat are made up of Abiotic
(non-living) and Biotic (living)
factors.
Some Abiotic factors are light,
temperature and air.
- Sunlight is used by plant to make photosynthesis.
- The temperature of a habitat determine s the kinds of organisms living there.
- Plants and animals need oxygen for respiration all the time.
Some Biotic factors are man and other
animals, plants, bacteria and fungi.
- Human beings may change the environment through air, land, and water pollution.
- Animals have to compete with one another for food.
- Some bacteria and fungi can cause diseases.
- Plants have to compete with other plants for sunlight, water, and mineral salts from the soils.
9.2 MAKING A MODEL OF ECOSYSTEM
9.3 FACTORS THAT AFFECT THE ORGANISM
- The amount of sunlight affect the temperature in a habitat.
- If the temperature is too high, plant and animal will lose too much water. If the temperature is to low, the water in a habitat will be freeze.
- The lack of air will lead to the death of organisms.
- Different types of soil are suitable for different plants and animals. Several type of soil are Garden Soil, Sandy Soil, and Clayey Soil.
- Some human activities such as cutting tree or polluting environment will make animals suffer and die.
- Some organism such as Aphids or Red Tide Algae affects plants other animals.
- Plants have to compete
with other plants for sunlight, water, and mineral salts from the soil.
- Bacteria and fungi can cause diseases
and multiply rapidly to the infected organisms.
- Limiting factors
are the factors that limit the number of organisms living in an environment. Some
limiting factors are the amount of food and living space.
